Two Days Off Clothing Review: Linen Olivia Top

I purchased this top in November of last year, but have only worn it a handful of times. I was a little iffy about writing this post because I love Two Days Off and Gina, but I have to honestly say I don’t love this linen Olivia top. But it has nothing to do with the top, but rather it’s due to my own personal preference for smaller linen tops.

ALC Review: The Kati Tee

During last year’s Shopbop sales event, I was really into the puff-sleeve trend (and still am). So I looked on Shopbop for a puff sleeved tee that was not too over the top (ie too puffy), and I found the ALC Kati tee. It looked like exactly what I wanted! Well fast forward a year and it’s one of my favorite tees to throw on when I want to look a little “extra” but not over the top. And I guess it’s a fan favorite since it’s still selling one year later.

Agolde Review: 90's Mid Rise Loose Fit Jeans and Riley Jeans {Updated November 2021}

I mentioned back in January that I purchased these jeans from fellow blogger Andrea. I had been looking for 90’s-styled “mom jeans” for a while but didn’t know where to start. But I love how mom jeans look on Andrea so when she decided to sell her Agolde 90’s Mid Rise Loose Fit Jeans because they were too big for her, I jumped at the chance. She was kindly worried that they would be too big on my, but knowing my pandemic weight gain I was more worried they would be too small haha. Well they are a bit tight but fit! I also love that I can look back at her blog to see how she styled these exact jeans (here and here).

Hackwith Design House Swimsuit Review

This swimsuit review might be a tad too early in the season for some of you folks, but as I have been in Hawaii for the last four months everyday is swimsuit day (if you want it to be lol). We have a pool here at our apartment complex so we’ve been lucky enough to enjoy swimming (which Emi loves) about once a week. So I’ve been getting great use out of my swimsuits, especially this Hackwith Design House one that I love.

Linenfox Anna Dress Review (and comparison to the Tradlands Nico Dress) {Updated March 2021}

I’ve been wearing this dress for awhile now but haven’t had a chance to yet review this sweet red Anna dress from Linenfox. I ordered this back in August and I got it in October of last year but because I’m currently in Hawaii I’ve been lucky enough to be able to enjoy wearing it all through this winter. If you’re not familiar with Linenfox, they are a small brand that makes linen clothing to order (thus reducing waste by not producing excess). They only use OEKO-tex certified high quality midweight linen (see where they fall in my ethical linen comparison review here). You can learn more about them here.

Two Days Off Clothing Review: Linen Kaneko Dress

As you know I’m a huge fan of the Two Days Off Haruko dress since it made my top favorite things reviewed post and my most worn in 2020 post (you can find my Two Days Off Haruko Dress review here). So in December I decided to gift myself with another couple of pieces from Two Days Off one of which is this Kaneko Dress in mushroom linen. I had seen Gina rock hers on Insta and I knew it was the dress I wanted to try next!

Unsponsored Arq Underwear Review {Updated July 2021}

In some cultures it’s lucky to wear new underwear for the new year. So what’s more fitting than my first review here to be about new underwear for the new year on my new blog? And what better color than green since it signifies better luck for this year than the last. Here’s hoping 2021 is a much better year! So what did I think of the much instagrammed ARQ underwear?

Most Worn Items of 2020

I don’t tally my wears anymore (I used to do it with the StyleBook App though I might start again in 2021 just to see where things stand). But having done the exercise for almost 2 years straight I have a pretty good feel for what are my most worn items and how many times I’ve actually worn them (my big takeaway from those 2 years of tracking is that when estimating, you probably haven’t worn them as many times as you think you did). Anyway I thought I would do a quick post about my 6 most worn items for 2020, a year of staying at home and a transitioning style. They are (in no particular order):

Babaa Review the no18 mini natural cardigan: Is it worth it? {Updated January 2022}

I tried my first babaa sweater back in 2018 and even though it was not love at first wear, I guess I hadn’t stopped thinking about it because here I am 2.5 years later with my very first babaa cardigan. If you’re not familiar with this ethical Spanish brand, they consciously make wool and cotton sweaters with people and the environment in mind.

Tradlands Review: The Nico Dress {Updated April 2021}

As I mentioned in my “What I Bought in August” post, I impulse purchased this Nico dress from Tradlands during their weeks of sales. I purchased it the first week (so I got 20% off) but they were already running low on sizes, especially in this Caroline print. So I had to get an XS though I’m normally a small in Tradlands sizes (my past Tradlands review here and here).

St. Agni Review: The Ciao Woven Mules {Updated May 2023}

If you’ve been reading here for awhile you know I’m a pretty big fan of St. Agni mules (if you’re not familiar with this ethical brand you can read about their values and production ethics here). This is my third pair of leather St. Agni mules. My first two were the non-woven leather Saul Babouche and the woven leather Paris mules. Both of my first two leather mules were purchased secondhand from The Real Real in mint condition, which made them a great value and 100% worth it. But this St. Agni Ciao woven leather mules is my first pair that I purchased new. They were on sale at Bloomingdales, where I also had a gift card (so they were $40 out of pocket—definitely worth it to me).

Ichi Antiquites Review: The Linen Dress

Ichi Antiquities has been on my radar for awhile now since I’ve been in the ethical linen game. But I never thought the big flowy dresses were really my style. Well guess my style is a changin’ because I’ve purchased multiple big flowy dresses this year. Side note: my style could also be changing because I’m finally letting go of my co-dependency on Everlane. Any-who, I was influenced by Erica (yet again lol) to get this Ichi Antiquities dress in smoky pink (see her version in a brilliant blue over on her insta) and I have zero regrets. This is the nap dress of my dreams though I probably wouldn’t nap in it (but I could).

Ethical/Sustainable/Slow Fashion Clothing & Accessories Brand Reviews Directory {Updated February 2021}

Since I’ve been reviewing ethical/sustainable/slow fashion brands for awhile now and they’re scattered in my archives, I decided to put them all in one place here. If you see any brands here that are missing and you would like to see a review of them, please feel free to reach out and let me know! Also I’ll keep updating this list as I add more ethical brand reviews to the blog.

Two Days Off Clothing Review: The Haruko Dress {Updated January 2022}

It seems like every year I get jonsing for a new dress around spring time. Last year I got my “summer witch” Pyne and Smith linen dress. This year I wanted something a little more spring/summer-like and got this gingham Haruko dress from TwoDaysOff Clothing. If you haven’t heard of this slow fashion brand before, TwoDaysOff is run by the stylish GinaStovall (<— her insta account) out of Los Angeles. They use deadstock, natural fiber fabrics and either make things to order or in very small batches. They really focus on sustainability and making well-loved and thus well-worn clothes. Learn more about them here.

Linenfox Review: The Heavy Linen Juniper Jacket

Oh boy is this review delayed. Sorry if anyone was waiting for since November, when I received this heavy linen jacket from Linenfox. TBH I haven’t worn this jacket all that much, until recently, thus the delay on writing the review. But since it’s finally warmed up enough to wear it more often, I feel like I’m finally qualified to write a fair review.

Ulla Johnson Review

If you follow me on Insta, you know that my latest obsession has been Ulla Johnson. I would love to be able to purchase UJ new, but I find that price-wise and sustainability-wise it’s best for me to purchase it used. So I’ve been stalking the RealReal and eBay and wow I’ve found some good stuff. And they were all at least half price or less. And by purchasing UJ secondhand I really got to see the quality of their clothing and how they’ve held up.

Unsponsored MATE (Mate the Label) Review: the Organic Terry Raglan Sweatshirt, Thermal Henley, Terry Front Pocket, and Kayden Crops {Updated October 2023}

If you haven’t heard of them before, MATE is a Los Angeles brand that makes casual loungewear from GOTS certified organic cotton (grown in India). But all dying (with low-impact dyes) and manufacturing (in accordance with California law) are done within a 10 mile radius from their headquarters. They are conscious about the carbon footprint of the manufacturing and shipping of their clothes.

Unsponsored Girlfriend Collective Leggings Review (vs. Lululemon vs. Outdoor Voices vs. Everlane Perform Leggings)

Fresh off of this past Tuesday’s consumption resolution, I’m happy to feature Girlfriend Collective, founded by Ellie Dinh. So let me start this review by saying I’m no leggings expert. I don’t live in them (well I hadn’t in the past, though that’s not as true nowadays). I only really wear them to do yoga and I don’t believe leggings are a substitute for pants. But so far I’ve tried quite a few and these are just some of my opinions of the Girlfriend Collective Leggings and how they compare with some of the other ones I’ve tried.
