March 2023 Recap

I was planning to do a recap every two months, however a lot happened in March so I thought I would just do a solo month recap here. Plus let’s be honest, I didn’t have a review prepared for this week (that Quince sweater review from last week took forever to write up) so a recap it is!

What I Did

March is a month of birthdays for our family since my daughter and I are both March born. My husband’s birthday is at the end of February so we decided to do a joint family celebration. And as fun as it was, boy I’m exhausted. Hosting is no joke, plus for an introvert like myself it takes me more than a day to fully recover my energy levels from an all-day social shindig. But I had fun, my family had fun, and there’s no better way to celebrate a birthday than with loved ones.

Re-mulched our lawn: I noticed that some of my plants were baking under the hot sun last summer because the mulch and started to go bare. So I looked up the best time to mulch for my AG zone (9 for the Bay Area) and it said February-ish. And boy after not having mulched it for 5 years, it really looked good after another layer of mulch. I look forard to what the garden looks like in summer’s full bloom.

Updated my Birkenstock Boston Mules review (yet again because I bought another pair of Bostons), Quince bags review (update on the tote that I’ve been using for the past 7 months), Quince fine jewelry review (added the diamond signet), Ruggable review (we ended up getting our first major stain on the rug—did it come out? Read the update to find out!),

What I Bought

Boston Mules narrow fit in Tabacco Brown: After buying two normal-width secondhand Birkenstock Boston mules from the RealReal, I splurged on a brand new pair from the Birkenstock store in Marin Country Mart. This is my first narrow-width pair and I have to say I love them more than my regular width ones now. They tend to stay on my foot better even when I’m wearing socks with them. And I love that I got the light brown color in leather and not suede because suede tends to collapse on itself thus making it harder to slip your feet in and out without using your hands. I’ve been wearing these non-stop since I got them and they’re hands down my favorite pair of Birks.

Ree Projects Elieze Bag: This was my birthday present to myself. I actually got it on eBay via this eBay store that seems to sell quite a few Ree Projects bag. As far as I can tell, Ree Projects isn’t being faked yet so all these bags are legit. I put in an offer and got it for about 60% off so I’m pretty happy with my purchase. Full review to come!

Custom Moonstone Ring: I’ve been wanting a simple moonstone ring for a couple of years now, but could never find one with the blue flash that I like that was in a price range that I wanted. So when I found an antique monstone pin last year for a really good price, I bought it with the intention to turn it into a ring. Well it’s taken me a bit but after finding Adrian Rose Jewelry on Instagram, I knew they were the right ones for the job (I love watching their jewelry making videos). You can see the pin conversion here.

What I Was Gifted

CurrentBody Skin Red Light Therapy Mask: After writing my post about not fearing forty (and yet trying to keep my skin from looking too aged), the people at CurrentBody asked if I would like to try their light therapy mask. I loved my first red light therapy mask (even though it was a hard plastic that I had to lie down to use every time), and was quite sad when it broke. So I was really happy to try this flexible red led mask. So far it’s even better than my first mask and a great relaxing therapy mask to use when I have the time. And I’m a big believer

Linjer Jewelry: The kind folks at Linjer asked if I wanted to try some of their jewelry and as a sucker for all things beautiful and shiny I couldn’t resist! They gifted me with their Margit ring and gold tennis bracelet. I especially love the bracelet because the length is fully customizable and adds the perfect amount of sparkle on my usually plain wrist stack. Of curse full review to come soon!

Kinfield sunscreen and mosquito repellant: I’m always down to try new sunscreens because even if I don’t end up using it my husband will. And IMO you can never have too much sunscreen. So far I love Kinfield’s sunscreen formula and the fact that it’s reef-safe (which is important to me even if I’m no swimming in the ocean) and doesn’t break me out. I got a small sample kit because I wanted to try everything but I can see myself repurchasing some of these items in the future.
