Moving from conspicuous to conscious consumption and doing reviews along the way.  Find plenty of unsponsored reviews of Quince, Everlane, Grana, and Cuyana on the site!  I'm working towards a minimal waste lifestyle, and oh yea I love bags >.<

Unsponsored U Beauty Review: The Resurfacing Compound {November 2021 update}

I first heard about U Beauty (a women-owned, POC brand) through Jennifer Fisher’s Instagram, though I’ve known about Tina since her BagSnob days (one of the OG bag blogs). I’ve trusted JF before when she led me to Augustinus Bader (I talk about that in my Augustinus Bader Rich Cream review), so I thought I’d take a chance with this U Beauty Resurfacing Compound on her recommendation.

Quince Review: Turkish Spa Bath Towels [Updated March 2025]

Since I talked about these Quince Turkish Spa Bath Towels in my last two posts (My Fairly Curated Gift Guide and What I Bought in November), I figured I’d bump up my review of them. Because you guys, these are some really great towels. I’m not a bath towel aficionado, but I’ve had more than my fair share of buying them due to running our Airstream business in the past.

Rakuten Review {Updated March 2021}

So I know most of you guys use Rakuten or something similar to get cash back for online shopping, so this post is for the handful of you guys that don’t use it. Plus isn’t Cyber Monday the perfect time to talk about it (especially since for many retailers Rakuten has a larger than usual cash back percentage today)?

Weekend Update/Ramblings

Hi guys, how are you doing? It’s been awhile since my last life update so I thought I’d check in with you all. We’re doing fine on this end and I’m feeling quite grateful for the Grandma day care hours we get everyday (about 3 hours a day). That extra time has helped my write a bit more these days (did you see my two posts this past week instead of the usual one?).

A Fairly Curated Holiday Gift Guide, 2020

I put together my first gift guide ever at the end of last year and some of you guys found it useful (and said some really nice things about it so thank you!). So I decided to do it again this year because it’s been a whole ‘nother year where I’ve reviewed a lot of new things. And just like last year these are all products I’ve tried and stand by!

Weekend Update: Traveling to Hawaii with a toddler

I made it to Hawaii guys! Whew, it was super stressful (the packing alone was a huge headache but I guess knowing how to do a capsule type wardrobe came in handy). Anyway since I got a couple questions about traveling to Hawaii and traveling with a toddler, I thought I would talk about it here while it’s still fresh in my mind.

Rellery Jewelry Review

I’ve mentioned in past posts about my love of jewelry and how it’s important to me that each piece have some meaning or memory attached. That’s why I’ve stopped purchasing fashion jewelry that turns green with wear and have sold/donated most of my fast fashion jewelry pieces. And for good reason, because why continue to purchase and then eventually dispose of junk jewelry when there are ethical, semi-fine jewelry makers out there? And with really reasonable prices to boot! And one such brand is Rellery, an ethical jewelry maker out of Rhode Island.

Organic Basics Review: Organic Cotton Underwear and Shirt

If you haven’t heard of Organic Basics before, they are a sustainable and ethical brand from Denmark that focuses on producing undergarments and other basics in organic cotton and other recycled materials (their name basically says it all lol). You can learn all about their factories and ethical/sustainable production practices here. I love that they have a ton of details about each factory like employee benefits and the number of their vacation days, along with a list of each sustainability/ethical certification the factory holds. It’s probably the most extensive list of details about a brand’s factories I’ve ever seen (blows a certain other brand’s “radical transparency” out of the water if you know what I mean).

Babaa Review the no18 mini natural cardigan: Is it worth it? {Updated January 2022}

I tried my first babaa sweater back in 2018 and even though it was not love at first wear, I guess I hadn’t stopped thinking about it because here I am 2.5 years later with my very first babaa cardigan. If you’re not familiar with this ethical Spanish brand, they consciously make wool and cotton sweaters with people and the environment in mind.

Guava Lotus Travel Crib Review: Is It Worth It?

As I mentioned in my What I Bought in September post, the one thing I bought for our Airstream trip was this Lotus Travel Crib from Guava. I had purchased a Pack N’ Play like this one for Emi when she was a newborn. And the bassinet function of the Pack N’ Play was useful for her first month of life and we used it a handful of times as an actual travel crib. But once she was able to stand we could no longer use the Pack N’ Play since it’s a tipping risk. So even though the Lotus Travel Crib isn’t cheap (it’s $200+ eek!) we think it’s 100% worth it since we know that Emi couldn’t tip it over, even while leaning her whole 30 pound frame to one side (and even when it was raised on top of cushions like in the photo above taken in the Airstream).

Weekend Update/Ramblings

I know you guys are all probably feeling some virus-fatigue so might not want to hear my current thoughts about the coronavirus, so feel free to skip this post if you are feeling this way. But as our pandemic summer turns into a pandemic fall, I started thinking about where we were in Spring when all of this was terrifying and brand new.

Tradlands Review: The Nico Dress {Updated April 2021}

As I mentioned in my “What I Bought in August” post, I impulse purchased this Nico dress from Tradlands during their weeks of sales. I purchased it the first week (so I got 20% off) but they were already running low on sizes, especially in this Caroline print. So I had to get an XS though I’m normally a small in Tradlands sizes (my past Tradlands review here and here).

What I Bought in September

It must have been the 30 days straight of smoky air from the wildfires, the gut punches of RBG’s death and Breonna Taylor’s murderers being acquitted (plus the pandemic of course), but I did not buy a single item of clothing this month. A No-Buy September for my closet.

Quince Clothing Review: The Linen Tank

It’s probably a tad late in the year (in the Northern Hemisphere) to be raving about a linen tank top, especially since I’ve already seen the term sweater weather bandied about. So this review is for my Southern Hemisphere and Equatorial friends out there looking to add a very reasonably-priced, good quality linen top to their wardrobe. This 100% organic linen top from Quince was an impulse purchase of sorts since I had some credit in my account (thank you so much to all you guys who used my referral link for $10 off your first purchase). But ever since writing my ethical linen comparison review, I use a brand’s linen items as a benchmark to determine the overall quality of their goods. And I wanted to know how Quince measured up.

Horses Atelier Review: Patch Pocket Skirt

Horses Atelier is another ethical brand that I learned of courtesy of Erica (she strikes again! lol). They’re a Canadian brand led by two women, and all their clothes are made in Toronto from fabric sourced from Italy or Japan. So you can imagine they make some high quality items with a price point to match. So yet again, I turned to the RealReal to get my secondhand fashion fix.

Okaysou AirMax8L Air Purifier Review

When Okaysou, an air purifier company asked me if I’d like a free air purifier during the 3rd week of smoky air due to wildfires in California, I didn’t hesitate. Yes, I already have 5 air purifiers (the ones featured in this air purifier comparison review). But I don’t think you can have too many air purifiers when living in wildfire-prone California and two very furry dogs (and I’m slightly allergic).
