If you’ve been following along here for a bit, you know I just bought this secondhand Loewe Lazo Tote in November of last year, but I’ve been wanting it since October of 2019 (having a blog to record every want and purchase comes in handy 😂). Well the price finally came down enough (sub $500) that I thought, why not? And wow I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been waiting for it for so long or because it really is a great bag, but I’ve been using it so much ever since I got it. It’s my number one most used bag in the last 30 days, and number two in the last 6 months (with 28 wears). So I figured it’s about time I write a review.
First off, I’m a sucker for any bag that has both a top handle and a crossbody strap. Most of my favorite bags come in this form factor. I appreciate that the handles loop all the way around the bag, so when it’s carried by the handles the bag cinches in. If you want to open the bag fully wide, the handles shorten up. But there’s enough length that it’s never a problem to open the bag and still carry it by one handle. And once the bag opens up wide, it’s really easy to get things in and out. For security when wearing crossbody you can lengthen the handles and then use a snap button loop to keep the handles together, making it hard for anyone to sneak their hand in.
The interior is lined in suede and comes with one leather flat pocket. It fits a ton of stuff, including the oversized wallet I’ve been carrying around these days. But it can fit all the essentials and then some (I’ll link a video here with what fits when I get a chance to record one). There’s no metal feet on the bag, just two leather strips to keep the bottom off the ground. It doesn’t work that well but I don’t really put this bag on the ground.
I was a bit worried the linen parts of the bag would get dirty, but haven’t found that to be the case. We’ll see how it wears and I will of course post an update to this review. But so far, it’s been fine and I think it’s because there might be some kind of light coating that makes it water and stain resistant. I’ve been caught in the rain with this bag multiple times and it’s been totally fine (I just make sure to wipe off all the water as soon as I get a chance).
Another good thing about this bag is that even though it’s a JWA design Loewe piece it was never really popular, so there’s not a ton of replicas out there. Not saying there’s none, but it’s less likely. And I have yet to come across a replica of this particular colorway.
Honestly I’m so glad I got this bag. I’m even more happy I bought it for such a good price, but I think I would have worn it just as much purchased at retail. But I’m glad I waited because I think the color ways of this bag now perfectly fit my wardrobe (not so much back in 2019 I think). My dark green coat from The Curated is the perfect color match and I got that back in 2022. So I think it was meant to be for me to wait for this bag five years to get it in 2024.
