Hermes Roulis Slim Wallet Review

As I had mentioned in my March recap post when I bought this wallet, the Roulis Slim wallet was not my first choice from Hermes. I had returned some shoes and using that credit purchased this wallet, in somewhat of a f* it, it’s my birthday mood. However seeing how I’ve only used this wallet twice since March I can fairly confidently say that this purchase was a fail.

I already have the Hermes Roulis 23 bag, purchased from Fashionphile about two years ago that I love. It’s a bit large and boxy so I don’t use it often, but whenever I do I fall in love with the Rouge H Sombrero leather and chic hardware every time. So I thought I would equally love the Roulis wallet, which I got in black chevre goat leather with gold hardware.

But here’s the thing, the Roulis slim wallet is crap as a wallet since there aren’t any separate card slots (just one main compartments and two thin card slots). So you can maybe put your driver’s license in one flat slot and a favorite credit card in another. But everything else will be stashed all together in the main compartment. So if you’re looking for something in particular, you’d have to flip through everything.

But even when you buy a third party conversion kit with a strap (I got a 100cm one here) to make it a crossbody “bag”, it’s too small to even be a good mini bag because it doesn’t fit a phone. If only they made it a smiiiidge bigger to fit a phone, then I could say it would make a great mini bag (or they should make it in the elan shape). But sadly it does not, so honestly this wallet just sits in my closet.

The wallet also comes with a belt loop if you wanted to wear it on your waist but I’m not really a fan (it reminds me of the days Dads wore their blackberry phone cases on their belt 😂). And lastly the wallet also comes with a small coin purse that I’ve also never used.

Anyway I’ll probably keep this wallet for a bit longer since I just got it this year and the resale market is pretty bad right now (bad for sellers though good for buyers). But if I don’t use it, I can’t see myself holding on to this $2400 wallet. However if you’re a fan of the Roulis wallet I would definitely check out Fashionphile for ones under retail.
