Did
Went on our first (and last) family trip this year. With our move and starting a new business venture (more on this soon), we took zero family trips this year. So we decided to do a short jaunt up to Eureka (one of my favorite towns in California) in our Airstream for a long weekend. And it was just what we needed! We did a short hike through the Redwood trees, a quick trip to the beach, and a stop into Old Town to visit all my favorite shops (most notably Dick Taylor’s Chocolates).
Got my flu and Covid shot this month, which wasn’t a big deal when I got it last year. But for whatever reason this year’s shots took me out for a day and a half (the day I got the shot and the following day). I never usually feel any effects but this year I did. But I’m glad I got it nonetheless. And just to note, my husband (who historically is wiped out by the Covid shot) did not feel any effects this year 🤷🏻♀️.
This month I also spent almost six hours of my life at a dealership getting a new leased Subaru Forester for my mom, and wow there really isn’t anywhere I hate more than a dealership. No offense to car sales people but it really feels like a special hell on Earth. Our last several cars were used and we got it online, so I forgot how bad it could get (honestly they sit and make you wait while blasting music to wear you down).
Updated the following blog posts: The Row Park Tote Review (with updated prices and general check-in and updates), Quince shoes review (added the Horsebit loafer), and Quince Fine Jewelry Review (added two more rings to the review).
And yes I’m still watching K-dramas 😂. I finished up No Gain, No Love on Amazon Prime, which I loved (I also watched the two episode “sequel” Spice Up Your Love featuring the secondary couple and sadly it was kind of meh—their story in the main drama was much better). I also signed up for Viki ($9.99/mo): a streaming app for K, C, and J-dramas. They have a much larger selection. My favorite series so far has been Lovely Runner, a time-bending drama that really kept it interesting, that came out earlier this year.
Buy
Quince leather shirt jacket: I got this during Quince’s one day sale and got $30 off. I’m not really a leather jacket kind of person (biker jackets aren’t really my style), though I do love the warmth and complete wind-blocking aspects of leather jackets. So I’m hoping this leather shirt jacket is more my speed. Will of course do a review once I test it out.
iPad Mini 7: I finally upgraded my ipad mini 4 from 2015 with this year’s model. My old one still works though it’s quite slow (I usually use this to watch most of my K-dramas 😂). And since my mom wants my old one, I decided to go for the new one this year. So far I love the speed and picture quality but I miss the separate headphone jack (had to get an adaptor to both charge and use my wired headphones).
Returned
Harwell Godfrey Foundation Necklace: I’ve been a long time fan of the jewelry line Harwell Godfrey (a Black-owned business local to SF) but their prices are quite up there. So when I saw one of her necklaces on the RealReal I used some credit to get it. And I love the necklace but I wasn’t too sure it was me, and I’m not really a necklace gal so I wasn’t sure how often I’d wear it. So I ended up sending it back. I might regret it later because honestly it was so pretty.
