Everlane 2022 Review: Way High Drape Pants, ReNew Transit Bag, and Swim Review

*This post is not sponsored nor were these items gifted. I purchased these items with a mix of store credit and my own money.

Wow it’s been quite awhile and I’ve come a long way since my Everlane addict days where I reviewed Everlane allll the time (see my collection of past Everlane reviews here—where the bulk of the reviews are items that aren’t made anymore). Well it looks like I’ll be doing one Everlane review a year since I only buy items from them when I need to fill a wardrobe gap (see my last 2021 Everlane review here—when I was looking for jeans and jean shorts, which I’ve been wearing all year). It’s too bad that Everlane’s product churn is so fast that many of their items are not part of their continuous stock. Thus even if I talk about it now (months after I purchase it) you won’t be able to find it on their website. But on the rare occasions they bring the item back, this review will be here for reference.

The Way-High Drape Pants

Anyway, the first item I’m going to review today is the Way-High Drape pants that I purchased with some credit back in March. I’ve been loving the baggy trouser look, despite the fact that I have no place to wear said trousers. But my style-loving self couldn’t resist trying it out when I found that I had some leftover credit in my Everlane account. So I thought why not? And yes I love the look! And yes, I have yet to really wear it out anywhere. I got this in a size 8 with a 30” inseam and as you can see in the photo above, the hem falls just above the floor when I’m wearing it with my 3” platform Beklina shoes. Since these are a slightly heavy weight cotton (actually a blend of cotton and lyocell), I haven’t worn them much this summer. They do have a linen Way-High Drape pant that would work better for the heat (but I imagine they don’t fall the same way the originals do).

The ReNew Transit Bag

I had this Renew Transit bag on my wishlist for awhile so I was super lucky to have found this secondhand from Crossroads in San Jose in perfect condition. Since I don’t have that many fanny pack type bags this one fills a much-needed niche. It’s the perfect bag for hiking, or for a rainy day in Disneyland like in the pic above. I find I use it most when Emi goes to the playground or splashpad since this waterproof crossbody bag is quite durable and minimal. Yet, it can fit quite a bit, including all the essentials. I also like that there are two compartments on the inside to easily organize everything. Plus the zippered pocket on the outside is perfect for stashing my phone. This has been by far one of my best Everlane purchases in awhile (and made a tad sweeter because I bought it secondhand and for less).

Everlane Swim

The last swimsuit I purchased was secondhand set from Hackworth Design and while I enjoy that swimsuit and still wear it, I wanted an extra one so I wouldn’t be reliant on just one swimsuit. I again got another black two-piece set. I got the square neck bikini top and really like the support. The 82% recycled nylon and 18% elastin material is stretchy but still quite taut so it holds me in better and has better support than the Hackworth Design swimsuit. The square neckline is flattering. It also comes with removable cup inserts so you can’t see any nipple. For the bottoms, I chose the high-rise hipster bottom for full coverage. Again I really like the fabric because it stretches but also holds me in. And the high-rise hides all my surgery scars (c-section and hysterectomy). Overall I’m really impressed with the quality and style of their swimsuits and if I ever go back to swimming more regularly I would consider getting another one from Everlane. As much as I love my Hackworth Design two-piece it’s not great for swimming (the fabric is stretchier and the top can become askew when swimming vigorously) and it’s more like a lounge-in-the-sun kind of swimsuit.

What I Returned:

I also tried out their Silky Cotton Relaxed Shirt because I was on the hunt for a striped button down. But since I found one at Crossroads right before I got my Everlane package, I shipped this one back. I did try it on and I thought the top had a nice vintage-y feel to it. It was super soft. But it didn’t have any structure or crispness to it, so it looked and felt way more casual than a traditional collared button-down. That can be a good thing, but that wasn’t what I was looking for.

And that’s it. As much as I used to love Everlane (and I still do like their styling and quality), I’ve found that I really don’t need that many new items in my closet. A slower rate of consumption overall is better for my mental health as well as the environment. But if you’re looking to add some basic staples to your closet, I would still say Everlane is the best place for it. And if you’re by chance a first time customer, if you could use my referral link I would greatly appreciate it!
