Delvaux Coolbox MM vs Mini Review

Hi all, sorry for neglecting this space for a bit. But I’ve been really working on making video bag reviews lately. I’m not sure if you guys caught my last review of the Delvaux Coolbox MM vs Mini, but I thought I would do a quick recap here for those who prefer to read their reviews. Plus, I’ve realized there’s not a whole lot of pictures and reviews of the Delvaux Coolbox so I thought I’d put some out there on the internets lol.

A Brief History of Delvaux

Anyway a little history behind Delvaux: they’re a Belgium brand that started back in 1829 (about eight years before Hermes started). And from the beginning they were a trunk and leather goods making company. Today, their bag are made in France and their small leather goods are made in Belgium. Their bags are “handcrafted” and are a combination of machine and hand-stitched. From the looks of the Coolbox, I would say it is mostly machine-stitched.

The History of the Delvaux Coolbox

The Coolbox was introduced fairly recently in 2018, and are a simple duffle-shape type of bag. The “cool” thing about the bag, I would say, is the large D-ring for the zipper. It’s a cool feature, but it does mean that you need to zip up the bag after every use (or you’ll have a big flap of leather hanging down).

Delvaux Coolbox MM vs. Mini

Between the two, I much prefer the mini size because it’s so much lighter. The Delvaux Mini Coolbox measures 8.5”L x 5”H x 4.5” D and weighs 1lb 3oz. The Delvaux MM Coolbox measures 10.6”L x 6.1” H x 4.7” D and weighs 1lb. 12 oz. Even though the MM size looks slightly larger, it feels heavier and quite a bit bulkier especially when worn as a crossbody.

Delvaux vs. Hermes

Above, I have the comparisons between the Delvaux MM Coolbox and the Hermes Lindy 26. These two bags are fairly comparable in size and shape. Of the two I prefer the Lindy 26 because it’s a comfortable shoulder bag and slightly lighter in weight.

And above is a comparison of the Hermes Clemence leather with the Delvaux Taurillion Soft. Both leathers are pretty much equal in quality IMHO.

Final Thoughts

So in all honesty, I’ll probably be selling the Delvaux Coolbox MM soon. It’s far too bulky and large to carry comfortably on a daily basis. And since I have the Hermes Lindy 26, I would opt for that bag over the Delvaux MM any day. However I love the mini Coolbox and can see that being a staple in my closet for a long time to come. Overall, I don’t think I would purchase another Delvaux bag because even if their quality is as good as Hermes (and with slightly more “affordable” or should I say reasonable pricing), I find a lot of their bags to be heavy. I tried a bunch out at the Delvaux boutique in Valley Fair Mall in San Jose, and pretty much all their bags felt heavier than expected. I guess that’s good in terms of quality, but not when it comes to my shoulder and back 😂.

P.S. And if you’d like a video version of this review (where I pretty much go over the same things), you can watch it below:
