As some of you guys know I’ve been dealing with some substantial hair loss in the last several years. Since I had a hysterectomy due to severe fibroids, I’ve basically been going through menopause and the consequent hormone changes which can lead to hair loss. And on top of that, hair loss for males and females run in my family so I’m doubly screwed so to speak. Thus, I’ve been actively working on keeping my hair and regrowing it since last year. So I was very excited when Vegamour reached out and asked if I wanted to try a couple of their products for review. All items reviewed here have been generously gifted by the brand but of course all opinions here are my own, and I was not paid for this review, nor will I make any affiliate income from your clicks.
GRO+ Advanced Hair Serum
My favorite item that they gifted me is definitely this GRO+ Advanced Hair Serum. I’ve tried a lot of hair serum guys and this one is definitely my favorite. First off, the serum texture is not sticky, oily, or goopy so when it goes on the the scalp it doesn’t feel too thick. Since it’s on the thinner side, a little goes a long way and it dries on the hair without being crunchy. My second favorite thing about this hair serum is that it doesn’t smell strongly (that’s one of the reasons I could not get through the Maya Chia Power-ful serum that one of you guys kindly suggested). Or other serums I’ve tried smelled strongly of rosemary (a natural ingredient meant to stimulate hair growth but also smells). The Vegamour formulation on the other hand doesn’t have rosemary but has tumeric extract, red clover, mung bean, and hemp extract. It’s so interesting and luckily doesn’t smell. In all honesty I haven’t used it for long enough to see big results (they say it takes 3-4 months), but having used it consistently for about a month I do see more baby hairs sprouting up. {Side note: I’ve been using all their products all at once so I can’t say for sure it’s the effect of just one product, however I’m using the serum most consistently.} Also I haven’t yet, but I plan to start using this with this scalp massager with red led lights to see if I can really boost the effectiveness of the serum. I will update this review with the full results when I finish the three bottle pack they generously gifted me.
GRO Scalp Detoxifying Serum
Another favorite is this GRO Scalp Detoxifying Serum. When I went for a hair analysis and spa treatment in Vancouver with some friends, one of the products the salon encouraged using was a detoxifying product to remove buildup so that hair growth products (like the above serum) can more easily absorb into the scalp and be more effective. So I’m so grateful that this product came along when it did. This is a weekly treatment that you leave on your scalp (the salon recommended massaging it in) for 3-5 minutes before washing it out in the shower. The texture is a little like milk diluted with water, and it smells very light and fresh. It looks, smells, and feels a lot like the detoxifying serum they used at the salon. I love using this weekly as part of my hair care routine.
GRO+ Advanced Replenishing Shampoo and Conditioner Kit
So to be honest, out of all the products, I probably use the shampoo and conditioner the least. I have my own favorite volumizing shampoo so I tend to stick with that, but I still use this about every other hair washing session since I want to see their effects. The shampoo and conditioner are both very rich and nourishing, and since I have very thin straight hair, the ultra moisturizing effect of the shampoo and conditioner tend to weigh down my hair. But it does leave it silky smooth and frizz-free. I can see if you have curly hair or maybe thicker strands, that this nourishing shampoo and conditioner being more helpful.
GRO Biotin Gummies
I’m not a big believer of supplements, but I don’t the hurt either (as long as you’re not overdoing it I suppose). But I very much enjoy eating this once daily gummies. I don’t eat a lot of candy these days so this is like my one candy gummy per day, and I love that they’re in a cute heart shape. In terms of taste, they’re not too sweet, and the texture is great too (side not, have you ever tried calcium gummies—ick not my thing lol). As I said I’m doing all these products at once so I can’t say for sure what the isolated effect of the gummies are, but I hope they’re helping.
Overall I’m quite impressed with the products from Vegamour. I’ve heard some negative things about the brand, and I’m sure not all the products work on everyone. But I think their items in general are easy to use, not overly smelly, have great texture, and with long-term use, should show some results. As I said I’ll be sure to update this review with my thoughts once I’ve gone through all the products. And thanks to Vegamour and Raffaella for this opportunity to try out some much needed hair growth products.
