Nutrafol Review: Women's Balance

I’ve mentioned it in the past here on the blog but I am unfortunately suffering from thinning hair. And this isn’t just some postpartum hair loss since I had my baby four years ago 😆. No, I’m pretty sure this is a genetic predicament considering my grandmother on my father’s side, my father, and my mother all had/have thinning hair. I try not to be too self-conscious about it because this is just my lot in life and how I was made (or rather how my scalp was made). But that doesn’t mean I won’t try to fight the good fight of the receding hair line.

There’s a lot of reasons why a person might have thinning hair, like postpartum hair loss or stress, so it’s hard to find a magic bullet to fix one’s particular pattern of balding. But considering I have a relatively stress-free life and have plenty of sleep, I’m pretty sure it’s genetic for me. Plus I had a hysterectomy three years ago and am sure my hormone patterns have changed since then. So I was eager to see what Nutrafol’s Womens Balance supplements could do for my growing bald spots (strategically hidden by bangs and a side part). The Women’s Balance formula is meant for women 45+ dealing with perimenopause or menopause. And since I have no uterus and thus no periods, I technically fall under the menopause category at age 40.

So what were the results? Sadly for me, it was minimal if any. I’ve been taking them for 6 months now with little results (also I originally meant to only take 3 months but you have to sign up for a subscription when you order Nutrafol and I forgot to cancel it 🤦🏻‍♀️). I mean my bald spots haven’t grown (I think), but they haven’t shrunk either. I’ve seen maybe several hairs of new growth but nothing substantial. And with some research I’ve learned that Nutrafol’s “proven results” mostly pertain to women of reproductive age taking the original supplement, and this demographic is most likely to see results with a supplement (source). So I think if you’re suffering from postpartum hair loss I think the Nutrafol Postpartum supplement would actually work for you. But as it stands I can’t recommend the Women’s Balance formula. I think you might have a better chance with Saw Palmetto (source) and collagen (source) supplements for substantially less than the $88 per bottle per month (purchased in a three month subscription racket).

So if you see young moms or women of reproductive age touting their success with Nutrafol I don’t doubt it. But just know that Nutrafol won’t work for everyone.
