As I mentioned in my March recap, I was gifted a couple toys from new-to-me brand Hahaland. I accepted because I found their large variety of toys to have be both fun and educational. Here are the two items that I picked for Emi:
Paint with water flashcards and puzzle
Emi is a big fan of the Water Wow books, so I knew she would like these flashcards where you “paint” with water. I’m a huge fan of these too because it’s probably the least messy painting activity you’ll ever see. These cards have the added bonus of being a mini puzzle. She usually can spend a good 10 minutes on these, which for her is a marathon of a time (we’re lucky if something holds her attention for 5 minutes). The only drawback to these cards IMO is the English is a tad wonky (like banana pie for banana pancakes and pumpkin lantern for jack-o-lantern), but I brought this to the attention of the brand so hopefully they make the edits for the next batch.
Racetrack Toy Set
Let me just start by saying this racetrack toy set held Emi’s attention for over 30 minutes the first time she played with it, which is some kind of record. And even though this toy is now weeks old, she still goes back to it several times a week and plays with it for 10-15 minutes at a time. Suffice it to say, this toy is one of her favorites and thus one of ours (and ngl, my husband and I like playing with this toy just as much as she does). If your toddler loves to push buttons and pull levers (and I mean what toddler doesn’t), then this toy provides oodles of entertainment. There are six actions to take to help the cars go around the track: a crank to take it up to the helicopter, a button to toss the car up to meet the helicopter’s magnet (this part has a bit of a learning curve but you just need to find the right “touch” lol), a lever to lower the bridge, a lever to bring the crane up, another button to lift the car to the last part, and lastly a crank to bring the cars back to the bottom of the hill. It isn’t the easiest to do (so if your toddler frustrates easily beware), but that’s probably why it’s so enjoyable once you learn all the mechanics. It’s hard to get bored with this toy! {Update: for those interested in seeing this toy in action, I made a little video here.}.
