Weekend Update/Ramblings

Hi guys, it’s been a bit since my last Weekend post. Well our dog Hachi passed away two weeks ago and I’ve had a hard time getting motivated to do much blogging or instagramming. He passed suddenly at home (he was 12 and slowing down but we thought he had at least a couple more years left) and my husband and I have been dealing with the grief (Emi doesn’t seem to understand though she’s accepted that Hachi is not around anymore). The grief comes in waves but slowly the tiredness and general sadness has eased a bit for me at least. But for some reason Hachi’s death also brought out my sadness at my dad’s passing (even though that was almost 2 years ago), which just goes to show grief over the death of a loved one is never completely gone (maybe just muted and then un-muted at times).

Any-who it’s already August and how did your No Buy July go? I am glad to report another successful No Buy July is in the books, so that makes my tally 2-1 (2 successes and one failure). I’m planning to do a No Buy August as well to try to keep the momentum going. I can already tell though that it’s going to be a bit harder for this month (I’m starting to browse again which is usually the first step in failing a No Buy challenge lol). But I’m going to give it a good try and see what happens!

And I’m sure most of you guys who read this blog and are able to be vaccinated have been vaccinated (because I like to think sensible like-minded people read my blog lol). But if you have access to the vaccine and have not yet gotten your shot, please PLEASE do. This shot isn’t just for yourself but for your community as well (and for all the kids who have yet to be able to get the shot). We must stop the transmission of this virus (now as contagious as the chickenpox!). We have only been able to live mostly free of infections and diseases in the past because of vaccines (well those vaccine-preventable infections). I remember a TED talk podcast that talked about immunity as a limited resource, and it truly is.
