Hi guys, how are you all doing? We’re doing well here. My husband and I got our second vaccine shot last week and we started planning a 4th of July getaway with friends. Things are slowly going back to how it was (though I don’t expect things to be exactly how it was pre-pandemic nor do I want it to be). But I am excited for this new post-pandemic world that hopefully we can all step into someday. To celebrate our second vaccine shot (and eventual 95% immunity) we got ourselves some Vaci-Cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes (an old favorite I used to eat all the time during Emi’s first year of life). Oh, and when it comes to the vaccine, I felt fine after my second shot (each person’s reaction will be different of course). My husband was wiped for about a day or two. The best advice I got was don’t party or overdo it before your second shot. Get plenty of rest and water, and eating really clean/healthy for a day or two before can’t hurt!
This past week I went back to Trader Joe’s for the first time in almost half a year. Oh man I love TJs lol. I treated myself with some vegan boba ice cream (which is sooo good, but I would recommend letting it defrost a bit to get the best boba texture) and some potted tulips. If we could only get TJ’s in Hawaii, Hawaii would be truly paradise lol.
And last weeked for Mother’s Day, the husbands of our friend group planned a surprise garden party out at Fioli’s in the Bay Area (the picture above). That garden was such a dream and I must be getting old because I looooove gardens. When I was younger, my mom would take me to gardens and I would be so bored. Now I can’t get enough of them, even if they do wreak havoc on my allergies. I also love watching gardening shows (mostly on Amazon Prime) and am a fan of Monty Don lol.
And speaking of allergies, mine have been really bad this year. I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve been in Hawaii for 5 months (where I never have allergies), or if this year is particularly bad. I spent some time this week vacuuming the house, cleaning all the filters on my air purifiers and buying some new ones. You can read my air purifier review here (which I’m still updating from time to time). Also for my fellow Californians, if you don’t have an air purifier yet, it might be time to do so before fire season (which is predicted to start early this year).
Anyway hope you guys have been doing well. And if you haven’t already please get your Covid vaccine shot! (yep, I’m going to be annoying about it because as a Public Health grad, I know getting a vaccine is the most important thing you can do for yourself, your loved ones, and your community. If you find this annoying please feel free to unfollow, thanks). And as a bonus, if you’re vaccinated you can now go mask-free! Though I don’t think we’re going to go mask-free (except for during the occasional picture) in this household until Emi can also go mask-free. I want her to keep her mask on and I think the best way to do that is to keep mine on as well 🤷🏻♀️.
