April Meets October Review: The Ogden Dress

April Meets October Review Ogden dress

I purchased this Ogden dress from LA makers April Meets October back in May, and a part of me wanted to review this dress in October so that the review was a bit like May meets October lol. But seeing as by the time October rolls around this spring/summery dress would be out of season, I decided to review it asap (according to my current posting schedule). So I guess it’s a bit more like May meets August for this Ogden dress lol. Anyway month-talk aside let’s get into the review!

If you’re not familiar with April Meets October, they’re a small brand that makes their clothes out of LA. Unfortunately they don’t have a lot of information on their website (like where they source their materials and any other ethical standards they adhere to, or about their team). But they happen to be an Instagram favorite (maybe you’ve seen their gingham May dresses around). I chose this Ogden dress because I love the color and simple silhouette with large sleeves. This dress could be easily dressed up or down with the right accessories.

The dress is made from a crinkled cotton that’s super lightweight and perfect for hot summer days. I do think the fabric is a bit delicate since I see a bit of pilling already (and I’ve only worn the dress a handful of times). Of course I’ll update this review as time goes on to let you know how it wears. But I do like that it’s lightweight without being sheer.

Unfortunately this brand isn’t really size inclusive since all the clothing comes in one size. I find this Ogden dress definitely roomy enough (I’m a size 6-8 these days). It measures 48” across the chest and 42” long in the front (which is right at knee length for me at 5’4”). This dress is about a medium to large size. Also I do find the neckline can be a tad constricting at times since it’s a tie-back closure and the neck hole is fairly small.

But overall I’m happy with this purchase and don’t have any regrets. I definitely got a little carried away with purchasing pink clothing at the beginning of the year. But hopefully you’ll see me in this dress for years to come!

P.S. It’s currently $49 cheaper right now due to their archive sale!
