What I Bought
The Row cashmere sweater, Agolde Riley jeans, IRO coat, Organic by John Patrick tee, and a Judith Lieber belt from the RealReal: Yep I got a lot of items from the RealReal this month, but it was mostly because I earned quite a bit of credit from clearing out my closet and selling to them. Sure I could have taken the payout as a check, but I knew I was going to want to add a couple of Fall/Winter pieces to my wardrobe (especially since I’ve sized out of a lot of my winter clothes these last two years 🤷🏻♀️). So I decided to take the credit (and the 5% bonus) and stretch it out as much as possible. Sometimes when searching on TRR, I’ll sort by lowest price and filter to my size and requirements. For example here’s the current lowest price cashmere from The Row. That’s how I got a Row cashmere sweater for $60 (same one here in white) and a IRO coat for $80 (both 70% off and not returnable but definitely worth the risk because you can always sell it back—and on occasion for more than what you paid for).
PJs for Emi from Hanna Andersson and eBay: Last year because we were in Hawaii, I never purchased any long john type pajamas for Emi. So I might have gone a bit overboard this year lol. I purchased two sets from eBay and another one from Hanna Andersson. I love the quality of their organic cotton PJs and find that they’re made from a much thicker (and thus warmer) cotton material than the PJs I’ve found at Target, Gap, and even a really old hand-me-down pair from J.Crew’s old Crew Cuts. And because the fabric is so thick and durable, even the secondhand ones I got from eBay have plenty of life in them. But I’ve found that the ones from eBay are only $1 or $2 cheaper than Hanna Andersson’s current PJ sale (right now they’re going for $25). Not gonna lie, I wish I had waited to purchase them for this unbeatable price. But on the flip side I at least know I can sell these same PJs for about $20 when Emi’s done with them to get most of my money back. You can read my full Hanna Andersson review here.
PACT organic sweatshirts for Emi: Now that Emi’s going to pre-school all-day four days a week, I needed more sweaters than the two I was rotating between. So I decided to get a couple more from PACT and I wasn’t disappointed! They’re thick, super soft and comfy, and they’ve quickly become Emi’s favorites!
Pepper Bra: Since breastfeeding, my bra hasn’t been fitting as well as it used to. So I decided to try out some bras from Pepper, the brand that touts itself as the bra for small boobs (no gaps in the cups!). I tried both the Mesh All You bra and the Limitless Wire Free bra and found I like the All You bras with the underwire better. Full review to come of course, but let me just say I’m 100% satisfied with this bra and I’m already planning on purchasing another!
Mate the Label sweatshirt from eBay: After talking about getting another Mate the Label sweatshirt for a couple months in the summer, I finally decided to get a third one because rotating between two wasn’t enough (especially with a messy toddler). Also I was able to get it at a lowball offer of $30 so it was worth it even though it came with the Honest brand logo on it. lol The sweatshirt I got is a large which makes it extra comfy though my normal size is a medium. You can see my full Mate the Label review here.
The Curated Classic Coat: And finally the big splurge this month was this Classic Coat from The Curated. I’ve been a long time fan of Nicola, the founder and have heard the buzz about these coats for awhile now. But since last winter I was in Hawaii and the winter before that I was dealing with body changes due to giving birth and fibroids, I didn’t want to buy a forever coat like this until I was ready. And boy, was it worth the wait! I love love love the quality of this coat and TBH it’s a much better coat than a lot of the ones I see going for more in stores. At least The Curated coats are made of 100% natural fibers (usually a mix of 70% wool and 30% cashmere but some are all wool) and have zero plastic fibers in them. On Insta stories I kind of went through my thought process with this camel coat: at first I wanted to return it because the small size was a tad snug in the shoulders and hips when belted. But later I decided to keep the small because numerous Curated coat owners messaged me that they rarely belt it and sizing up can make it tad more bulky. So I’m definitely keeping this camel one in small and am now thinking about getting another one in medium (maybe in bone, maybe in moss?). We’ll see, but I love my new coat and haven’t stopped wearing it since I got it.
Custom dental night guard from Amazon: So this is a very unglamorous purchase but a very much needed one due to my unfortunate habit of grinding my teeth in my sleep. And since I have fairly poor dental insurance, my very wonderful dentist recommended these custom night guards that can be done for a fraction of the cost. She says they’re just as good (though they only provide a guard for the top teeth, not both like when you get it done at the dentist). I’ll let you know how it goes for anyone interested.
Haruko Dress from Two Days Off: I purchased another Haruko dress in black linen during their 30% off Investment Sale. I unfortunately have grown out of, or maybe shrunk my original Haruko dress (or maybe both) so I no longer fit my gingham one that I reviewed here. But I love love love my Haruko dress so I decided to buy another one (for 30% off plus some credit earned from referrals—thank you to everyone who used my code FAIRLYCURATED to get 20% off their first purchase). I’ll probably sell my gingham one since I don’t plan to lose any weight any time soon lol.
