I’ve tried all three wool blazers that Everlane has ever produced (the first one I purchased and the other two, including this one were gifted). So I feel pretty well versed in Everlane’s wool blazers and I hafta say that this oversized double-breasted blazer is probably my favorite. Just to clarify I did get this gifted, but also got the wool Academy Blazer gifted from Everlane and I never liked that one near as much as this one.

I know a lot of people liked Everlane’s original Oversized Blazer (which I reviewed here), but I never really liked the oversized-ness of this single breasted version. So I was kind of going out on a limb when trying this oversized double breasted version (but I always knew I could return it to Everlane if it didn’t work out). But for some reason I like the oversized-ness of this double breasted version. I think it works. Maybe because it’s currently the trend to wear oversized men suiting so now I’m used to seeing this silhouette (thanks Eva Chen)? I’ve traditionally stayed away from double-breasted blazers in the past because I heard they make short people look even shorter. And there’s some truth to that here too (my torso looks long and my legs look shorter). But I like the boxy shape.
I also like that that this double-breasted blazer only buttons at the bottom row of buttons, so that the top part of the blazer doesn’t overlap. It’s a small detail but I think it helps the blazer to look more modern and less like from the 80’s.
I’m wearing a size 4 here and I find it’s the perfect fit around the shoulders and even fits my postpartum belly. Also for reference since I’m only 5’4”, it looks a tad long on me. You can see how it fits Andrea who’s 5’8”. This blazer has just enough room in the shoulders for me to wear a thin sweater underneath during the colder months, and I would recommend sticking with your usual size on this one.
I do need to mention that for $180, this blazer does seem steep. But it’s still a bit cheaper than J.Crew’s version of the boyfriend blazer (which goes for over $200). And at least Everlane’s is made from recycled wool and recycled nylon (though I wonder why they decided not to market this blazer as Re-Something).
Anyway I feel like I’m the Goldilocks of Everlane blazers and I’ve finally found the one that works best for me! I can’t wait to put this item into heavy rotation this fall and winter.
