Dr. Barbara Sturm Review

I heard of the Dr. Barbara Sturm serums awhile back now and finally bit the bullet to try it during one of Sephora’s year end sales last year. Yep, I bought this Flight Essentials kit over 5 months ago (lol when taking a flight was a given—ahh how the world has changed since then). Anyway I decided on this kit because it had all the things I wanted to try: The Face Cream Rich (so I could compare it to my all-time favorite, and fellow German-made product, the Augustinus Bader Rich Cream) and the Super Anti-Aging Serum (which I’ve seen heralded on so many Insta accounts). So how does the Dr. Barbara Sturm products measure up?

They were a complete disappointment for me. As I mentioned in my Augustinus Bader review, I have very sensitive skin. Thus I’m weary of trying new products all the time, and instead tend to stick to one if it works for me (I’ve been a devout AB rich cream fan since that review). But I thought I’d go out on a limb here (plus I purchased this during the heady year-end sales at Sephora). Anyway as I said, the Sturm products were a big fail for the most part. The Face Cream Rich broke me out while the super anti-aging serum gave me small red irritation bumps that lasted about 24 hours. I used each item one at a time so I know which product I could or couldn’t tolerate.

The cleanser was alright (no irritation) but pretty unremarkable. I used the anti-pollution drops over my sunscreen but can’t tell if it really does anything. The small sample probably isn’t enough to make a difference. The same goes with the calming serum—it really didn’t do anything.

Anyway there are a few times that beauty products blow you away, but for me, this is not that time. It could be the sample sizes are too small and I’m not using them consistently enough. Or it could just be that these are unremarkable products. Has anyone else tried Dr. Barbara Sturm and what did you think?
