Hi guys and another Grana review for you today. So let's talk about cashmere! I've learned a lot about cashmere in the past year. I first reviewed Everlane's cashmere here and then did a comparison post between Everlane and J.Crew's cashmere where I really went into the nitty gritty of it all. So by now I feel I'm a semi-pro at judging cashmere. And Grana's cashmere doesn't disappoint!
Grana's cashmere, like Everlane's is rated Grade-A, so it's no surprise that their cashmere feels very much the same. (And in full transparency here I'm comparing the cashmere I purchased from Everlane last season with Grana's cashmere tee which seems to be also from last season though I purchased it just 3 weeks ago. Both Grana and Everlane have new cashmere items out this year, but there's nothing to make me believe that both of their older season cashmere is different from their cashmere this year. I'll let you know if that turns out not to be true.)
I have both Grana and Everlane cashmere in light gray (and this matters because darker colors can be slightly less soft in cashmere because of the dyes used). Both cashmeres are extremely soft and warm. To be honest, in a blind feel test both sweaters feel identical. And since both Grana and Everlane are selling their cashmere for the same price points ($99 for the cashmere crew), it really just boils down to what kind of style you're looking for. Unfortunately the sweater tee I'm wearing below is no longer on sale, but Grana has added a ton of new styles. My current favorites are this color blocked v-neck sweater and their long cardigan (but they also have donegal wool sweaters if you missed out on Everlane's last year as well as new cropped styles--also very much like Everlane's). By the way I'm wearing Grana's cashmere tee in a small (which is very fitted and not my cup of tea at all so I'm selling it heavily discounted here--I literally just wore it once for the pics below). {I've just put in an order for Grana's cashmere crew in medium and their V-neck boyfriend sweater in small and let you know how those sizes fit once I try them out}.
Currently Everlane is offering free international shipping (until the end of November 2016) so if you've always wanted to try Everlane I say go with their cashmere (plus I think with their marketing and general 'cool girl' vibe, you can probably resell your Everlane items for a better price than Grana's items on the secondary market). But if you're reading this after Nov 2016 and want to get good cashmere then Grana fits the bill (they always offer free international shipping if you buy over $75, at least for the US).
Oh and it's pretty awesome that Grana includes this care comb and care guide with all their cashmere items because no matter what, cashmere will usually pill. Last year, with Everlane's cashmere I used the heck out of it and it pilled like crazy but then I dry cleaned it at the end of the season and it looked like new. But if pilling bothers you then this comb is a great way to maintain it between cleanings.
