One Quince Review: 14k Gold Solo Mini Hoop & 14k Gold Bold Hoops
Another Quince (formerly known as Last Brand) review for you today. So far I’ve tried their cashmere, their leather crossbody, leather tote, and their linen bedding. Now I’m here to review their jewelry. They really do have quite a few items on their website! Currently both their 14k bold hoops and the 14k solo mini are sold out, but hopefully they restock it soon.
So I first ordered the 14k gold single huggie since I have three piercings in my ears and thus a single hoop is always a great addition. Their jewelry is made ethically in India (as stated on their website). It would be great if they used recycled gold for their jewelry but I’m sure that would drive up the price and they wouldn’t be able to sell a single hoop for $29. That’s the lowest price I’ve ever seen for a 14k solid gold hoop (I’ve talked about their low prices before in my first post about them here). In the pictures below, I’ve lined up the Quince single hoop (bottom right) with a 14k rose gold single hoop I purchased from NanaBijou (via Etsy) for $60 (that’s on the bottom left in the pics). Both single hoops look identical when worn but the craftsmanship of the NanaBijou one is slightly better. The NanaBijou one is easier to take off with a slightly smoother locking mechanism. But if you’re the type to leave your earrings in, then the Quince one is fine. And for half the price I think it’s definitely worth it.
I also purchased the 14k gold bold hoops, which is also sold out but retails for $99 for two. The bold hoops are thicker and bolder than their mini hoop. The locking/unlocking clasp for these hoops smoother than the mini solo hoop and thus their easier to take off. The hoop diameter for these are 12mm and thus slightly larger than the diameter of the solo hoop (which is 10mm). These look a lot like Mejuri’s bold hoops which retails for $160, but I think these Quince ones are better. I tried the Mejuri hoops in the store once and could not take them off for 5 minutes. I thought I’d either rip my ear or have to purchase them because I couldn’t get them off. Luckily I was able to get the locking mechanism to release after an anxious 5 minutes lol. So for $60 less and earrings that actually come off, I’ll take the Quince bold hoops.
I think if you’re looking for simple 14k solid gold jewelry on a budget Quince is a really great place to shop. And you can read all my other Quince reviews here and I’ve also reviewed their Pearl Stud Earrings here.
