10 Things I'm Glad I Bought For The First Half Of 2024
There’s a series that Japanese YouTubers often do called Things I’m Glad I Bought so I thought it’d be fun to do the same here. It usually covers anything and everything they’ve purchased in the year or half year. I’m only including things that I’ve purchased with my own money, and not everything mentioned here has been reviewed or reviewed yet. So let me know if this was interesting to you and whether or not you’d like to see posts like this in the future. And without further ado (and in no particular order):
Secondhand The Row Sandals from the RealReal
As I mentioned in on of my monthly recaps, I purchased these shoes to scratch the itch of those jelly sandals from The Row that’s all the rage this summer (but I’m relieved I didn’t go for them since they have issues with breakage). And I’m so glad I got these instead of splurging for the delicate jelly sandals since these satin ones are super durable. Of course they don’t look anything alike, but I’m really enjoying these even though they’re a bit out of my comfort zone (since I’m usually a Birkenstock kind of gal). These are the perfect shoes when I want to wear sandals but want them to be a bit dressy. And they’re super comfy so it’s a win-win.
Vintage Hermes Vespa (reviewed here):
This was one of my most used bags for the first half of 2024, and so of course I have to add this to my list here. TBH I’m not sure it qualifies as the best since this is the bag that kicked off my current Hermes obsession, so really it was probably the worst thing to happen to my wallet 😂. But in terms of useful and beautiful bags, this vintage Hermes is a clear winner.
Dr. Jart Beauty Balm (reviewed here)
My love for this Dr. Jart Beaty Balm is still going strong. I’ve had three people compliment my skin when wearing this foundation, and this never happens to me since my skin has historically suffered from acne and I still have rosacea. As I mentioned in my review, getting the right color is a bit tricky since I have to mix two different tubes, but it’s 100% worth it for me.
Cocofloss and the kids refillable cocoflosser
I haven’t done a review of Cocofloss yet but I know I mentioned in one of my recaps that this is one of the best floss brands I’ve ever tried. I feel like this floss truly grabs the plaque between teeth to prevent build-up. I know I’ll never be able to go back to any old floss now. And more recently I got the kid’s refillable cocoflosser and it’s been a game changer. My kid’s dentist gave us a reusable flosser but it was kind of tricky to use so honestly we never used it. The cocoflosser is so easy to use that my five-year-old can get the floss ready by herself (though she still needs us to help her floss). And best of all she looks forward to it since the floss comes in such yummy flavors.
Toto Washlet Seat
When we renovated our bathrooms at our old house, we added an outlet near the toilet to allow for a Toto Washlet Toilet Seat. We opted for this one since we could move it to our new place. And I don’t want to get too TMI here but let’s just say the whole family are fans.
Neiwai Bra (Neiwai review here)
Ever since getting this bra in March, it’s the only one I’ve been wearing everyday. It does stretch out a bit over time, but that’s what makes it comfy. I got two more of the same style (different colors), so now I can rotate between three. I don’t know if I can ever go back to non-Neiwai bra.
Dries Van Noten Dress
I got this on my birthday from The RealReal and I pretty much wear it for every occasion. I just love the way it drapes and hangs. It’s a casual dress to be sure, but there’s a crispness that keeps it from getting sloppy. Honestly this is probably one of my most used birthday presents to myself ever.
AHC Natural Perfection Double Shield Sun Stick
This sun stick has been the perfect addition to my summer essentials. It’s an easy swipe on whenever I find myself outdoors and as I mentioned before, I love that it’s not greasy and doesn’t have any strong fragrances. I see they raised the price a bit since I ordered it in May but since a little goes a long way, it’s definitely still worth it.
Hermes Apple Watch Band
If you were to ask me what is my most used Hermes item that I purchased new at the boutique, it would hands-down be the leather watch band for my Apple Watch. Of course I could have gone with any brand off the internet (Quince sells the same thing), but the leather from Hermes can’t be beat. Plus since I wear it everyday, the cost per wear has gone waaaay down. I love it so much I constantly ask my Hermes SA if they got in any more colors. Anyway no regrets on getting this one!
