Weekend Update/Ramblings
I apologize for last week’s gloomy and somewhat needy post lol. I think being sick made me feel pretty down, but I realise I got a lot to be thankful for (and it’s one thing to see things on the news and quite another to have them actually happen to you). And thank you to both Andrea and K for supporting me despite my melodramatics. But they gave me some great advice: stop doomscrolling, do things that you enjoy, and look to help others with time/money. After doing all three, I do feel a bit better and more hopeful again.
Also I’ve decided to continue to do all three by working on my closet sale page, and all the money (minus shipping costs) will be donated to COVAX, which is working to provide vaccines to countries that can’t afford the COVID-19 vaccine. I know there are a lot of nonprofits that need money right now, but I’ve decided to focus on something that I’ve cared about since my Public Health grad days and that’s preventing vaccine-preventable diseases. I think of the immense privilege I have for getting vaccinated (and possibly getting a booster shot in the future), while so many people can’t get the vaccine yet and don’t know when they will. The only way out of this pandemic is together, with everyone vaccinated. Or else people will keep dying and the virus will keep mutating. We’re not free from this pandemic until we’re all free.
Anyway the closet sale is a bit sparse right now but I’ll keep adding to it and all proceeds will be donated to COVAX for the foreseeable future.
