Knickey Underwear Review

*These items were a gift but all opinions here are my own. There are also affiliate links in the post below.

I am becoming quite the collector of ethical, organic cotton underwear. Funny since I refuse to model said underwear on the blog or on Insta. But then again I write these underwear reviews for the average gal who just wants a good pair of undies that weren’t made by slave labor and use organic materials (looking sexy is not on the agenda here lol). Well you guys, I found another good one, or rather they found me. And I’m so glad that they did because these are some of my most favorite undies yet. When it’s time for me to buy some new undies I’m definitely going to go back to Knickey.

In the past my go-tos had been Pact but tbh not all their undies hold up (in fact the older ones have held up better than their newer batches). And as much as I liked the ones from Organic Basics, those are just a bit too out of my price range for underwear. And the Arq ones are fun but they’re not typical underwear and the VPL on them makes me reach for them the least. Well what I like about Knickey is that they are your standard issue, practical underwear made from organic cotton and they come in the most useful cuts. Plus their manufacturing transparency is some of the best in the ethical field. I also really appreciate recycling program where they will help you get rid of your old undies, which are then turned into insulation materials. I’m 100% going to take them up on this (when I get back to Cali I’m going to go through my underwear drawer and take advantage of their program. I’ll update this review with how it goes when I do). And best of all the price of their underwear is the most affordable of all the ethical undie brands I’ve tried so far.

As for their underwear offerings, I appreciate that they are a no-frills brand (literally no lace to be found here). They produce every typical style (thong, bikini, brief), and then some. I like that they have a high-rise brief since that’s not something that’s usually offered but I’ve recently discovered that this style works well with my high-rise pants. Their sizing also goes from XS to XXXL, which is more inclusive than a lot of other ethical undie companies. And lastly their basic collection of colors are various shades of nudes, which surprisingly is also not something a lot of other ethical undie companies provide (they usually just have black, white, light nude and then a random assortment of seasonal colors).

I received the mid-rise brief and the low-rise brief in black. I find that the mediums are perfect even though I’m slightly bigger than their medium measurements on their size chart (thanks to pandemic weight gain lol). But the undies have plenty of stretch and I don’t feel any discomfort in them. The mid-rise is still surprisingly high-waisted so I’m curious to see how the high-rise briefs will fit (I plan to order them in my next order from Knickey and I’ll update my review when I get them). Oh and I should mention that these undies are delivered in all paper packaging and there’s not plastic in sight.

So if you need to replace some undies and are looking for an ethically-made, fair-trade, organic cotton, size inclusive, affordable brand, I highly recommend Knickeys. There’s a lot to like about this New York-based brand. And if you want to look even deeper into their commitment to sustainability, take a look at their Impact Pact and 2019 Impact Report.
