Weekend Update/Ramblings
Hi guys! How are you doing? It’s been awhile since my last weekend update post (is this maybe the first of the year?). I guess I haven’t been compelled to write since nothing much has been going on with me personally, though I did feel a lot of doom and gloom since 1/6. But I have to say I woke up on Thursday feeling generally relieved and lightened. I know there’s still a lot to work on and fix in this country but I can feel the hope again.
As for me, one of the things I have to start working on in myself is my impulsive shopping habits. I think it might have been the stress of the last days of 45’s presidency but I went overboard on the shopping these past couple of months. I also know it’s because I returned a fairly expensive Christmas gift from my husband (that I picked out) so I felt like I could treat myself with more less expensive things instead. But I know that’s just me fooling myself into spending money. Aaand it’s also probably because I’ve been spending way too much time on social media (edit: ok I decided to remove it from my homescreen from time to time to cut down on my addiction—we’ll see how this goes). Anyway I think it’s time to take a breather from shopping. In the meantime I’m unsubscribing to all my promotional emails, pruning some of my social media accounts, and tracking my wears again on the Stylebook App. Speaking of promotional emails, I didn’t know those don’t delete automatically in Gmail so I had over 80,000 from all the way back in 2016ish. It took Gmail several tries to be able to delete all of them and no wonder I was running out of Google space 🤦🏻♀️. I got back 7GB (that’s like 50% of my allotted space)! Now whenever I feel like procrastinating I spend some time unsubscribing to emails—it makes me feel at least somewhat productive lol.
Anyway how are you guys doing? Feeling better about this year as well? Huzzah! (I’ve been watching “The Great” a dramedy loosely based on the life of Catherine the Great of Russia. It’s on Hulu and I recommend it. And in it they say Huzzah a lot lol).
P.S. On Thursday I noticed that since Jan 16 my RSS subscribers have dropped off by about 90%. It’s because I changed my page slug from “TemporaryHousewifey” to “blog” (which is what it should have been in the first place—I don’t know why I made TH my slug when I started the blog 🤷🏻♀️. Obviously I didn’t know what I was doing lol). Anyway I don’t know why I can’t subscribe to my own blog (this is how I test my RSS) with the regular url in my Feedly (my chosen way to read blogs) but this url works: http://fairlycurated.com/blog?format=rss . I’ve added a notice about this on my homepage sidebar as well, but it’s kind of like a catch-22: how to get your subscribers to subscribe again if you don’t show up on their feed anymore? {Edit: My Instagram stories has helped spread the word, thank you to you guys who resubscribed!}
