No, this Everlane review (the first in almost a year) is not an April Fool’s joke. Though I might be a fool to give Everlane a second chance. Until early this year I still believed they were working on fixing their racism issues but currently, I can’t be sure since they removed any BLM or Black Fashion Council information from their page (which is disappointing). But like I said before, I plan to use up the rest of my store credit and then take it from there. Anyway, the first thing I purchased with credit since my long hiatus from Everlane was this leather sling. And I thought I would review it since this isn’t perfect and I wanted those considering it to be aware of its faults (which I talk about below). I’ve been looking for a slim, sling-like bag for awhile since sometimes you just need the essentials and then both hands to wrangle a toddler. And this leather sling from Everlane looked like just the thing. So what did I think of it?
Overall I like it. It does the job well of being easily accessible yet mostly out of the way. It doesn’t hold much though. I can fit my phone, card wallet and keys. That’s it. Forget about it if you have a large wallet or want to carry anything else (sunglasses are a no-go). But if those three things are all you need to carry, then this sling bag might be for you. As usual, Everlane’s leather is top notch and the woven crossbody strap is fully adjustable and sturdy. But my main gripe about this bag is that the straps can get twisted due to the fact they don’t use the usual loop system. Rather the straps are attached to the bag with a hole-peg (stud?) system. If things like twisting straps that don’t lay flat bother you, this bag is not for you. As for me, I don’t use the bag often so I can deal with it.
Anyway I’m happy with this sling since it gets the job done and it’s my lightest and most convenient bag in my current collection. And I also like the sleek look and high quality leather. But I also purchased it with credit but if I paid $98 of my hard earned money, I would expect a better system for the straps.
