Two Days Off Clothing Review: The Safia Midi Skirt

Babaa cardigan, Two Days Off Safia Skirt, Ree Projects Mini Helene bag, Beklina open toe clogs

If you can’t already tell by now when I love a brand, I loooove them and have to try almost everything from them. It’s happened before with Everlane and Elizabeth Suzann, and I can tell it’s now happening with Two Days Off. So far I’ve reviewed two dresses and a top, but this will be my first review of a bottom. I saw this Safia Midi skirt on Gina and knew that this would be next on my list. I love the quality of their linen (which I’ve ranked as number one on my list of linen from ethical brands), so I knew I wanted to try it in this sleek-looking midi skirt.

First a note on sizing, I got this in the medium size according to the sizing chart and it currently fits a bit tight. I definitely gained some weight during the pandemic so my sizing is all over the place. But this would probably have fit me better last year when I was a true 28 (in jeans). Nowadays I’m a 29 so everything fits a bit tighter (making my way up to 30—eek). But this skirt still works since it just sits a bit higher up on the waist than usual. I actually really like the high-waisted look and it helps make the skirt a true midi length on my 5’4” frame. But just fyi I usually get a size XS or S for TDO dresses with a great fit result.

And even though this skirt is a tad small around the waist, I have no issues with gaping holes between the buttons (this is a button-down skirt). It’s designed well enough so that the skirt remains closed. I also love the little side slit on the skirt, which also allows for easier walking (and leads me to try new poses like the one below 😆).

Overall I think this is a really well designed and high quality skirt. I think the thick linen is perfect for this slim-fitting skirt and helps it keep it’s straight lines. Also a thick linen is less likely to wrinkle as much as a thinner one. And the midi length is great, but the side slit keeps it from being too dowdy. TDO does it again and this is a great basic-but-better piece that’ll work with so many items in my current closet. Plus it’s an item that can be easily dressed up or down, making it a great piece to pack for vacation as well.
