Sezane Review: Yaelle Blouse
So I know it’s unfair to review a whole brand based off of one item so please take this review with a grain of salt. But you know me, gotta review everything that comes into the house lol. So here’s my review of my first Sezane item (but surely not my last).
At the beginning of the year, I had a moment of weakness after seeing so many puffed sleeves in Zara. And I purchased a couple Zara things and did a short try on. In the end I returned everything and lamented that there were no cute, ethically made puffed sleeve tops. Well I think this Sezane Yaelle blouse is the closest thing to what I was looking for. It has all the frothiness of a lace, puffed sleeve top, but is made ethically in India. In many ways, Sezane’s production practices reminds me of Everlane: they work with audited factories (which they call ateliers- tres chic lol) and are making an effort towards sustainability. They’re not really there yet but they definitely aren’t Zara.
Besides tbh I bought this top because I just fell in love with it at first sight (thanks to Erica over at ahistoryofarchitecture). I love the puffy sleeves (of course), the little flap of pompoms coming off the sleeve, and the large flower eyelet design. It’s a tad sheer (as you can see from the top photo, the waistline of my black Elizabeth Suzann Clydes is clearly visible). But a nude bra it isn’t so noticeable. Plus I think one of my favorite ways to wear this blouse is layered under my ES Harlow (above) or ES Mara jumpsuit (below).
I’m wearing a size US 6 here (FR 38) because Erica had mentioned this top runs a tad small. And it must because even though I’m usually a size 4 on top, the 6 fits perfectly. This might be my one trendy item for this spring season but I think it’s 100% worth it because I love it so much. I’ve already combo-ed it with every Elizabeth Suzann item I own, and can’t wait to pair it with basically everything in my closet.
Anyway I’m really happy with this top and Sezane’s service in general. I’ll probably shop with them again, though I probably won’t do it that frequently since they’re not a slow fashion brand. But on the up-side, Sezane was founded by a woman (Morgane Sezalory) so I’m still sticking with my resolution to purchase from women owned/founded brands. I foresee myself purchasing one or two items a year that I’ll treasure for years and years like this blouse.
