Two Days Off Clothing Review: Linen Olivia Top

I purchased this top in November of last year, but have only worn it a handful of times. I was a little iffy about writing this post because I love Two Days Off and Gina, but I have to honestly say I don’t love this linen Olivia top. But it has nothing to do with quality of the top, but rather it’s due to my own personal preference for smaller linen tops.

First of all I love the linen quality (I still stand by my belief that TDO has the best linen out there) and I love the color. But unfortunately I find the sizing of the Olivia top to be a little too big for my liking. It only comes in one size, and while it’ll work for most people, I found the neckhole to be a little too big (it’s big enough that I can almost do an off the shoulder look if I wanted to). And I find the overall shape of the top to be a tad overwhelming for my 5’4” frame (it’s quite a bit wider than I’m used to in tops). I think if you’re taller, then this Olivia top might be a better proportion for you. Also because it’s linen, the stiff fabric doesn’t drape (or rather, you’ll need to wash and wear it a lot to get it it soften to get it to drape). And because it’s just a little too oversized for my liking, I find that I don’t reach for it very often.

I’ve also tried the front-tuck look and I think it’s more manageable when styled that way. But overall I just prefer less oversized tops. Or if it is oversized, I like them better in a drapey, soft fabric. This is the same reason why I ended up selling my Only Child Alta top in linen (though I still have two Alta tops in raw silk).

In the end, I decided to let go of this top on my Insta closet sale page (sorry it sold within a day) Now I know, oversized linen blouses are just not for me 🤷🏻‍♀️. But if you take a look at the reviews for this top on the TDO website, you see that people love them. So if you’re one that likes oversized linen tops and you’re taller than 5’4”, then this might be for you. If you’re interested you can get $15 off with the code FairlyCurated (I will also get $15 off my next purchase so thank you for funding my future TDO reviews!).

P.S. If you’re looking for a loose linen top that works well with petite frames, I suggest checking out the Mona top from Linenfox. My review of the Linenfox Mona top here. It’s one of my faves, and even though it’s a loose fit I don’t find it too oversized.
