What I Bought in December
Well I’m ending this year of “What I Bought” posts with a bang. I definitely bought a lot of stuff this month and I chalk it up to sales, fatigue from resisting sales, and just getting caught up in that consumer frenzy that goes around this time of year. Ah well at least most of my purchases were from slow fashion brands and secondhand, and I was good at not shopping for most of the year (well that’s what I’m telling myself to justify it lol). Without further ado here are the last things I bought this year:
What I Bought
Only Child Clothing Cove Pants in Tencel and Tide Pants in Linen: I love a good seconds sale, especially when it comes to Only Child because their stuff rarely goes on sale. I had been wanting to try out the Tide pants ever since they came out, right after I purchased my linen Cove pants Spring of 2019. And I saw on the OC insta that one in my size (medium petite) was available in black linen so I knew I was going to try to score those (and I did!). But once I got onto the seconds sale site, I saw that they also had a tencel Cove pants in my pants and went for those too since I loooove my linen Coves and wear them a ton. I’m going to wear these pants around a bit more before I write a review, but expect a review of each sometime next year!
Two Days Off Kaneko Dress and Olivia Top: The Kaneko dress was on my wishlist in November and I finally couldn’t wait. I don’t know how it is with you but sometimes I can be good about not shopping for awhile, and then once I purchase one thing, all the resistance comes tumbling down. That’s how it was with this (after splurging at the OC seconds sales), and I also ended up adding the Olivia top on impulse on top of that. Ugh so much for trying to be good about shopping 🤦🏻♀️😆(but at least I got it for 20% off? lol). This is also why I purchased all the things below as well.
Bitty Brah Hats: This was a total impulse purchase influenced by Kimberly over at EatSleepWear. I’ve been thinking about getting these cute trucker hats for kids (it comes with a strap so that it stays on their head) and finally bought them during their sale. Emi loved it at first but still gravitates to her bucket hat so we’ll see if it was a waste of money or not 😆
SkinSalvation Charcoal Cleanser, Mandelic Acid Toner, and Beyond Complexion Daily Moisturizer: I love Kim and her small SF business. I’ve been a loyal buyer of her Charcoal Cleanser for yeaaars. I also love her sterilizing tonic which she no longer sells, so I luckily was able to consult with her over Insta and she recommended the Mandelic Toner. I was also in the market for a good sunscreen moisturizer that wouldn’t break me out and so am trying out the Beyond Complexion one she stocks in her store. Seriously, if you have acne-prone skin, Kim knows her stuff and her products work!
Custom Christmas Ornaments from Snapfish: This was a Christmas present for the grandparents. It was my first time trying Snapfish but I thought it was easy to use and I liked the variety of products. I have used Shutterfly in the past but this time I didn’t think their ornament selection was good as Snapfish. I was pretty pleased with how the ornaments came out!
Masks from Clare V.: I totally succumbed to email marketing on this one. Note to self, don’t open promotional emails at the end of the day when you’re exhausted. I definitely don’t need more masks since I have a personal mask factory (aka my mom) but I wanted one that ties behind the head. Well at least these are made in LA from leftover deadstock materials 🤷🏻♀️
Secondhand clothing from the Real Real: I had some credit burning a hole in my pocket so I decided to browse the site. And of course I purchased way more than I should have but I’m really happy with what I got: and old Celine navy blue shift dress with super deep front pockets (a favorite feature I look for in clothes ever since the Two Days Off Haruko dress) and an Ilana Kohn Eleanor top. I ended up returning a pair of Tom Ford sunglasses I was on the fence about (and thanks to 85% of you guys who voted no on Insta for helping me see the light on these lol).
What I Exchanged
Hazel Sandals from Wilder Shoes: I got my Bettison peep-toes and I wasn’t a fan so Roberta was kind enough to let me do an exchange with the sale price (even though the sale was over). I’m really glad that we’re in Hawaii right now so I can fully take advantage of year around sandal weather!
