Kosas Review: The Tinted Face Oil and Wet Lip Oil Gloss

via

As I mentioned in my December What I Bought post, I decided to try out this Kosas Tinted Face Oil because I was looking for a lighter colored foundation for the winter time (I usually use the Suntegrity 5-in-1 tinted sunscreen for the summer). I read about Kosas, a clean beauty line on several blogs and definitely wanted to try it out because of the rave reviews. Well I’m just going to let you know it did not work for me at all. If you have fairly smooth, well-exfoliated skin you’ll probably love this foundation. But the very light formula settled into every wrinkle and pore, which was not a good look for me. I tried it both with and without primer and no difference. I was pretty disappointed since the texture seemed really smooth and velvety. The color worked well for me too (I was a 3.5). Also I wore it for awhile and there was no irritation and I don’t think it led to any new zits (though these days my skin seems to clog less easily post-pregnancy—lucky me!). But when I check my trusty list of pore clogging ingredients (here) I see that both avocado oil and Octyldodecanol are pore-cloggers in this foundation (foundation ingredient list here), so use at your own risk if you have acne-prone skin.

I also purchased the Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss also because it has rave reviews (and I had a Sephora VIB promo lol). And I have to say I’m in looooove. I always have fairly dry lips because I take zero care of them. So on the rare occasions I do wear some kind of lip color it either looks flaky or makes my lips even drier. This also may be because I am using pretty old lipsticks, glosses, balms. I bought so many awhile ago before my conscious consumption habits, and since I don’t want to waste them I told myself I wouldn’t buy any more lip products until I used up at least 1 lipstick. Well who knew it would take so long to use up just one lip product! I finally broke the rule to buy this and have no regrets. I think it might be time to let go of all the old stuff and just stick with this one. I love this lip gloss because I definitely can tell that it’s actually moisturizing and healing my lips when I wear them. My lips end up looking better after wearing. And that’s not even the best part. I love that the texture of this lip gloss is not super thick and tacky (my hair doesn’t get stuck in it if the wind blows it into my face). It does feel like an oil that goes on smooth and gives great color distribution. Also there’s no weird funky taste nor sweet artificial taste or smell. I got the color Fruitjuice since I like cool-toned reds (reds that leans towards blue), but I’m really loving the color Dip as well (it looks more like a neutral-my-lips-but-better color). I’m going to return the tinted face oil and I’m really tempted to buy the lip oil in Dip >.< but we’ll see. This is definitely the lip product I plan on using up and I’ll let you know when I do!
